Dr. Skyler Hoelscher

Skyler Hoelscher, MD

is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine. He treats musculoskeletal conditions resulting from injury, overuse, and arthritis tailoring operative and non-operative modalities with the goal of getting patients back to their sport and active lifestyles. He specializes in arthroscopic surgical techniques of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee as well as joint replacement procedures of the shoulder, hip, and knee.

Dr. Hoelscher was born and raised in South Texas graduating from Calallen High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Dallas with a double major in Biology and Business Administration. He then completed his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. 

He went on to complete a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the John Peter Smith Orthopaedic Residency Program in Fort Worth, Texas, graduating as Chief Resident.  He then obtained additional sub-specialty training, completing a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Under the tutelage of world renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, team physician for Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Rays, Auburn University, and Alabama University, he obtained advanced training in treatment of sports-related injuries in high-level professional and collegiate athletes. Dr. Hoelscher provided additional Sports Medicine coverage for the Blue Wahoos (minor league affiliate of the Marlins), University of West Florida Athletics Department and their National Championship Football team, as well as local high school teams.  

Dr. Hoelscher looks forward to serving the needs of his North Texas community where he lives with his wife, Dr. Amelia Hoelscher, and their daughter Eloise.
